National Medical Laboratory Week

April 20 – April 26, 2014 is National Medical Laboratory Week in Canada. CAP-ACP joins the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science in celebrating the dedication, professionalism and the valuable contribution of medical laboratory professionals to high quality patient care.

CAP-ACP ByLaws 2013 Available
June 04 2013
The CAP-ACP voted at its Annual General Meeting and the revised bylaws and Articles of Continuance have been accepted. CAP-ACP has conformed to the transition under the NEW Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, SC 2009, c 23 ("NFP Act"), which came into force on 17 October 2011.

Changes to CJP Editorial Board

Founding members of the Canadian Journal of Pathology Editorial Board Dr. Louis WADSWORTH (section editor for hematopathology) and Dr. Eleftherios DIAMANDIS (section editor for medical biochemistry) are ending 4-year terms as of 31 December 2012. Their replacements are Dr. Lawrence HALEY and Dr. Pierre DOUVILLE, respectively. CJP story.

CAP-ACP again offers Residents Review Course in 2015

The CAP-ACP announces the 5th iteration of its annual Residents Review Course in Toronto, ON, January 2015. This popular course helps trainees to prepare for the Specialty examination in Anatomical and General Pathology for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and is also an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1).

CBC Radio One (Manitoba)'s morning program "Information Radio" interviewed CAP-ACP Past President Laurette Geldenhuys about errors in pathology on its 24 February 2012 show. Diagnostic Services Manitoba recently released a report that several mis-diagnoses by one of its pathologists have been discovered. (9:23)
