|Welcome to the Summer 2015 Newsletter|
This is my first newsletter as President of the CAP-ACP. The newsletter was brought back to life by our Past-President, Martin J. Trotter and is a communication piece that I will continue to offer in my presidency. I have found it to be a useful mechanism to bring attention to our association's activities.
My first order of business is to thank the outgoing Executive members, who have completed their terms, for their service to the association.

As many of you know, Dr. Trotter and I go back many years having worked together at UBC. It has been very rewarding to work with Martin again. I think that we can all agree he was a very successful leader to the CAP-ACP in many ways. To highlight a few: the return of the quarterly newsletter that focuses on Communications and Advocacy, Education, Collaboration and Guidelines, outstanding results as Resource Development Chair for the 2014 and 2015 annual meetings, leading the Pathologists' Assistants to national certification, amending two set of by-laws (2013 & 2015), overseeing the migration of the website to a more user friendly and visually appealing platform, launching Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook to new levels of social media visibility, and leading CAP-ACP Sections, SIGs and Committees to meet their mandates and bring value to the membership. The list goes on and on. Therefore, thank you, gracias, merci, and danke!. Please be sure to send him your own messages of appreciation through the office firstname.lastname@example.org. We will see that he gets them!

2016 Annual Meeting - Vancouver, BC, July 9-12, Hyatt Regency
The CAP-ACP Annual meeting consists of two days of workshops (Saturday and Sunday) followed by two days of symposia. There is a half day with proffered paper/posters and a half day of CAP-ACP specific awards lectures. There are two evenings of special interest group and specialty network meetings. The overall meeting is under the supervision of the Annual Meetings Committee with subcommittees including the LOC, CPD Committee, CAP-ACP Sections and the CAP-ACP Awards Committee.

Already the committee is actively recruiting the Cam Coady speaker and selecting their venues for the President's reception. This will be an excellent event and we look forward to seeing all of you.
Call for Workshop Proposals
Areas that are covered by returning workshops or confirmed for the 2016 program include: GU (prostate), Hematopathology (Myeloproliferative Neoplasms), GI Pathology (Luminal GI Tract), Cardiovascular, QA/QC, Gyne/Obs, Cytopathology (Thyroid), and Autopsy. Therefore we will be accepting four (4) new workshops for the 2016 Annual Meeting scientific program.
Deadline for submissions is September 1, 2015.

International Liaison of Pathology Presidents (ILPP)
The ILPP met with the British Division of the IAP in Dublin, Ireland on Thursday, June 25 to Saturday, June 27, 2015. Present were 16 Presidents, Vice Presidents, Executive Directors or CEOs from pathology associations around the globe.
I was able to attend this meeting and participate on valuable discussion surrounding Education, Developing Communities, Genomics, Professional Practice (CAP-ACP contributed discussion on Best Approaches for Advocacy), Promotions (CAP-ACP contributed discussion on Strategies for member retention and member growth and How to use Social Media tools for Pathology organisations), and Quality and Accreditation.
This is a valuable opportunity to share, compare and benchmark against "like" associations and learn what other organizations are doing well and how their successes can be adapted to the CAP-ACP.
We look forward to hosting the ILPP in 2017 during our annual meeting in PEI.

|CAP-ACP CAP-ACP Bylaws|
In advance of and during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Montreal, the membership was invited to comment on the addition of a third member-at-large to the Executive. This motion was approved and the new slate has been enacted.
As a result, some changes to the by-laws were necessary. These changes were presented to the membership in advance of the AGM and were approved.
The revised bylaws have been reviewed by our legal firm to ensure that they meet the Not-for-Profit Act requirements.
Some additional changes to note:
Please review the revised bylaws and offer any comments or feedback by August 20, 2015. If there are no edits to make, the bylaws will be in effect as of September 1, 2015.
