Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program: Credit Valley Hospital Site

Description:
Applications are invited for a one year Fellowship in Oncologic Pathology commencing July 1, 2016 within the Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program of Trillium Health Partners at the Credit Valley Hospital Site. The Fellow will work with a group of ten anatomic and general pathologists servicing a large community academic hospital with a regional cancer program. The Fellow will gain wide exposure to biopsies and common cancer resection specimens. The Program has strong immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry facilities and hosts the regional molecular genetics laboratory.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The Fellow will be responsible for signing out a manageable number of biopsies and large surgical cases. The Fellow will gain a wide exposure to oncologic pathology specimens including resection cases, prostate and bladder biopsies, general oncologic and GU consultation material. The Fellow will participate in biweekly multi-disciplinary cancer conferences along with regular intra-departmental case reviews and quality activities. The Fellow will be given an opportunity to participate in one or more research projects and will also assist in the undergraduate and postgraduate training programs. There will be opportunities for the Fellow to participate in other areas of surgical and cytopathology if desired.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include MD (or equivalent) degree; certification in general or anatomical pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; and registration for independent practice license with the College of Physicians and  Surgeons of Ontario. Residents completing their final year training may be eligible to apply. This position is open to all qualified candidates, however, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
