The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics of Island Health is currently seeking applications for the position of Anatomic Pathologist in Nanaimo.
Based at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) you will join a group of seven pathologists in a diverse practice of anatomical pathology, including skin, GI, gyne/GU, breast, head and neck, and some pulmonary, as well as non-gyne cytology. Coroner’s autopsies and occasional hospital based autopsies are also performed. You will hold, or be eligible for, FRCPC certification as an Anatomic Pathologist and are eligible for licensure in the province of British Columbia. Extra training or interest in breast pathology or dermatopathology would be considered an asset.
NRGH (224 beds) is the regional hospital for central Vancouver Island providing services to an immediate referral population of 125,000 and secondary referral services for 330,000. The Nanaimo medical community enjoys a full complement of Primary Care Physicians, skilled specialist colleagues and provides on-site CT, MRI and nuclear medicine. Through our affiliation with the University of British Columbia Island Medical Program you may have the opportunity to utilize your teaching and mentoring skills with both residents and undergraduate medical students.
This Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics position is eligible for appointment as an Associate of the Central Vancouver Island Pathology Associates physician group, which is contracted by Island Health to provide anatomic pathology services. You may also be eligible to apply for a clinical appointment with the Department of Pathology at UBC.
