Applications are invited for a permanent position in ENT/Endocrine pathology available immediately.

The successful candidate will join a group of 31 other pathologists based at the Ottawa Hospital site. This site provides a comprehensive range of regional anatomical pathology and cytopathology services. Expertise in ENT/Endocrine pathology is a requirement for this position. Experience in one or more other surgical pathology subspecialties would be an asset.

Compensation will be according to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care’s Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation and Laboratory Medicine Funding Framework Agreement.

Minimum requirements include an M.D. degree, a license or eligibility to practice in Ontario, Royal College of Physicians (Canada) certification in Anatomical Pathology or its equivalent recognised by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and fellowship training in ENT/Endocrine pathology at a major cancer centre. A strong track record in applied or translational research would be an asset. The position requires an appointment at the University of Ottawa in order to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education in pathology. The competition will remain open until the position is filled.

About EORLA:
EORLA operates 18 acute-care, hospital-based clinical laboratories across the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN) of Eastern Ontario.

EORLA’s Division of Anatomical Pathology operates out of 4 regional adult hospitals and 1 paediatric hospital, annually processing and reporting over 93,000 surgical pathology cases (139,000 specimens), 19,000 cytology cases, 280 non-forensic autopsies, and 700 forensic autopsies per annum. A new molecular oncology diagnostics laboratory has been established, supporting personalised therapy for cancer patients in the region.

A total of 46.7 FTE pathologists provide interpretive and consulting services in the region using a single regional anatomical pathology information system. A strong program in quality management has been established. We have an excellent program in undergraduate and
postgraduate education in pathology. Pathologists are engaged in applied and translational research. Most are cross-appointed to the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). Several have leadership positions and/or are examiners at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Practice Location:
The practice location for this position will be at the Ottawa Hospital (TOH) which has 3 campuses.
