At Scarborough and Rouge Hospital (SRH), the patient experience comes first. With three hospital sites (Birchmount, General, and Centenary) and five satellite sites, SRH provides a broad spectrum of health services to one of the most diverse communities in Canada. Created through a merger of The Scarborough Hospital’s Birchmount and General sites and Rouge Valley Health System’s Centenary site in December 2016, SRH is committed to delivering the highest quality patient- and family-centred care, with a focus on enhancing access to services for the Scarborough community.

The Department of Laboratory Medicine at SRH seeks a highly motivated lab physician with a passion for providing the highest quality of care to join the department.

Scarborough and Rouge Hospital is one of Canada’s largest urban community hospitals. The Anatomic pathology services include over 36,000 cases per year supported by immunohistochemical staining services. Cytopathology volumes are approximately 11,300 cases (both gynae and non gynae), and about 840 bone marrows. Our Pathologists provide direction and supervision of all Clinical Laboratory Services. The successful candidate will become member of a team of 13 pathologists.

We have major programs in general surgery (breast, GI), head and neck surgery, endoscopy, obstetrics and gynecology, hematology, oncology and urology, and the nature of the specimens is mixed accordingly. Expertise in these areas is a must. A subspecialty in Hematopathology will be an asset. The successful candidate will be required to meet and exceed all departmental and provincial quality indicator targets.

Qualifications required are an Independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). You will also have a FRCPC Certification in Anatomic Pathology. Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
