CLINICAL ACADEMIC POSITION – ANATOMICAL PATHOLOGIST
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London, is seeking a full-time clinical academic Anatomical Pathologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.
The Program of Pathology in London is one of the largest single-sited departments in Canada, with an annual workload of over 55,000 surgical specimens, 20,000 cytology specimens and 600 autopsies. The department has a long history of strength and excellence in many areas of diagnostic service, teaching and research, and is highly collegial with an environment conducive to career and personal development. The pathology service is subspecialized and the successful candidate would be expected to participate in at least two subspecialty services. Subspecialty training or experience in cytopathology, gastrointestinal pathology or breast pathology would be an asset.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide the full range of diagnostic services required of an anatomical pathologist. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background and will participate actively in the Program’s academic initiatives including teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, residents, and fellows as well as research and quality initiatives. Applicants considered at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have demonstrated the ability to publish in the highest quality academic and subspecialty journals and be a recognized expert in his or her field of pathology.
Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and must have postgraduate training/qualifications in Anatomical or General Pathology. Preference will be given to applicants who hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of hospital funding based on the MOHLTC Laboratory Medicine Funding agreement.
