Unity Health Toronto and the University of Toronto’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology are seeking applications from qualified and highly motivated individuals to fill a permanent Anatomical Pathologist position in a partially subspecialized environment, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor. Experience or training in Hematopathology (ie peripheral blood film interpretation, bone marrow and lymph node pathology) would be preferred. The start date will be mutually agreed upon.
We are a very collegial group, with a strong culture of scholarship. The successful candidates will provide excellence in a surgical pathology diagnostic clinical practice with partially subspecialty practice, be expected to participate in frozen section diagnosis and participate in after-hours call. Interest in Autopsy would be valued. The successful candidates will also contribute to the academic mission of the Department, via participation in collaborative research, undergraduate teaching and residency training programs. The Department’s strategic plan includes a focus on diagnostic innovation, test utilization and clinical engagement. Interest in one of these would be an asset.
The qualified applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the province of Ontario and must hold postgraduate qualifications in Pathology. The successful candidates should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. Fellowship training or demonstrated subspecialty expertise/commitment is favoured. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform level of compensation in the Province of Ontario (currently $367,392.00), where the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has implemented a total compensation package that will equalize the successful candidate’s compensation with that of other Laboratory Physicians in the Province of Ontario.
