Position description
The McGill University Department of Pathology and the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Department of Laboratory Medicine are seeking a pathologist to join the Division of Gastro-intestinal-Liver Pathology at the Glen site, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical). This faculty appointment will be part of the Contract Academic Staff and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The Glen Pathology lab processes over 75,000 surgical specimens annually. The Pathology division offers residency rotations in subspecialty areas in Anatomic Pathology and Molecular Pathology. Depending on the candidate’s profile and track record of academic activities, a clinician-researcher position could be created.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching, research, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in other scholarly duties such as academic and/or administrative committees) and provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to diverse pathology residents and medical students. They must actively participate in such activities as quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate will also be expected to be involved in intraoperative consultations and adult autopsies service, and to maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established performance indicators and turn-around times.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Requirements:
• An MD degree with certification in Anatomic Pathology (Royal College or equivalent)
• and licensure or eligibility for licensure in Quebec;
• At least one year of fellowship training in gastro-intestinal-liver Pathology;
• A commitment to teaching and an interest in clinical research and publication;
• Excellent references and a strong track record of collegiality with co-workers.
Assets:
• Expertise in another field of surgical pathology;
• French language skills.
