OTTAWA, ONTARIO (CANADA). Applications are invited for three full-time pathologist positions with a start date as soon as possible or July 2022. We are seeking candidates with fellowship training and/or significant working experience in GI/Liver, renal (medical kidney) and dermatopathology. You will join the services with other respective subspecialty trained pathologists. Our annual volume is approximately 20,000 GI, 500 Liver and pancreatico-biliary, 400 adult native and allograft kidney biopsies, 7000 dermatopathology cases. Every pathologist is expected to participate in more than one subspecialty service and preference will be given to candidates with interest in one or more other subspecialties of their preference. The candidate will participate both in diagnostic and consultation services.
The minimum requirements to apply include a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree, license to practice in Ontario, and Royal College of Physicians (Canada) certification and/or equivalent board certification in Anatomical Pathology. The candidate will have academic appointment at the University of Ottawa and is expected to participate in collaborative research and teaching activities. Rank will be commensurate with experience according to the University Guidelines. Salary and benefits accord with Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) for pathologists in Ontario. EORLA (Please visit eorla.ca) operates 18 regional hospital-based licensed clinical laboratories across the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN) of Eastern Ontario including the Ottawa Hospital and the Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario. The laboratory staff includes over 725 Medical Laboratory Professionals, 70 Medical/Scientific staff and 15 Pathology Residents.
The Division of Anatomical Pathology Reference Laboratory at the Ottawa Hospital processes collectively more than 75,000 surgical pathology specimens and 20,000 cytology specimens per year. The Division of Anatomic Pathology at the Ottawa Hospital operates a subspecialty-based practice with a high proportion of GI, Gynecology and Breast cases. The Division has a state-of-the-art molecular oncology diagnostic laboratory which includes next generation sequencing technology and other platforms to support precision medicine and clinical trials.
