Academic Hematopathologist
Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) and the University of Ottawa (UO)

OTTAWA (CANADA).  We are seeking an academic hematopathologist to join our team providing transfusion medicine (TM) and hematopathology (HP) services including coagulation testing, bone marrow examinations, flow cytometry, hemoglobinopathies and routine/special lab hematology.  The successful candidate will contribute to all areas of TM-HP service work; depending on the candidate's training and experience, a subset of this service may be considered.  Expertise in laboratory coagulation is an asset.

A major client of EORLA, the Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is a quaternary academic health sciences centre with a large leukemia program treating 60-80 new acute leukemia patients and performing over 200 bone marrow transplants per year.  The program is helping Ontario build capacity for CAR T-cell therapy for ALL and lymphoma patients.  TOH's benign hematology program produces world-leading research in thrombosis.  We operate the department's state-of-the-art molecular oncology diagnostic laboratory which includes NGS platforms for assessing solid and hematologic malignancies in support of precision medicine and clinical trials.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and must have, or be eligible to obtain, certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or acceptable equivalent) in Hematological Pathology.  CPSO Pathway A or B candidates from the US will be considered (visit cpso.on.ca for more information).

The successful candidate will have academic appointment at UO and participate in teaching and research.  Rank will be commensurate with experience according to university guidelines.  Salary and benefits accord with Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation for pathologists in Ontario.  The position is available 1 Apr 2022 and the competition will remain open until it is filled.  We regret only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
