Academic Anatomical Pathologist

Applications are invited for an Anatomical Pathologist position with the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP), with an academic appointment at an appropriate rank in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University.

The ideal candidate will have subspecialty expertise in breast pathology (through a recognized fellowship or practice experience), including related molecular/ biomarker testing and reporting. Additional experience and interest in gastrointestinal, gynecological, or genitourinary pathology will be an asset. Other areas of interest will also be considered. Strong surgical pathology and frozen section skills are required.

Applicants must hold certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent in Anatomical or General Pathology, and hold or be eligible to obtain medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment, and is expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. A commitment to academic scholarship, in the areas of education, quality improvement, knowledge translation, innovation, clinical research and/or translational research is required.

The HRLMP encompasses five tertiary care hospitals operated by Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare and employs more than 34 anatomical pathologists in all subspecialties.
