Applications are invited for a one (1) year fellowship in oncologic surgical pathology commencing July 1, 2023 within the Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program of Trillium Health Partners. The Program is seeking two (2) Fellows. The Fellows will work with a group of twenty-one (21) pathologists serving a large community academic hospital with a regional cancer program. The Program has strong immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry facilities and hosts the regional molecular genetics laboratory.
These fellowships will focus on diagnostic confidence building, workload management, and the development of leadership skills, including communication, group learning, test validation, quality assurance, and quality improvement. The Fellows will learn in a framework of graduated responsibility, including signing out biopsies and large surgical cases. The Fellows will gain a wide exposure to oncologic pathology specimens including radical resections, cytology specimens, referral cases, as well as intra-operative consultations. The Fellows will be provided an opportunity to participate in one or more research/departmental projects and will assist in the undergraduate and postgraduate training programs. Opportunity exists to tailor the fellowships in areas of surgical pathology and cytopathology, if desired.
Minimum requirements include MD (or equivalent) degree; certification in anatomical or general pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; and registration for an independent practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Postgraduate residents completing their final year training are encouraged to apply. This position is open to all qualified candidates; however, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
