The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London, is seeking four (4) Anatomical Pathologists for clinical academic appointments. 

Position Profile: Successful candidates will be expected to participate in at least two subspecialty services. Subspecialties include but are not limited to gastrointestinal pathology, cytopathology, genitourinary pathology, renal, hematological, and pediatric pathology. Participation in teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, residents, and clinical fellows, as well as research and quality initiatives is expected. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s in Education or in Quality Improvement, or someone willing to acquire such training. In addition, experience or fellowship training in informatics with a focus in digital pathology will be considered an asset. Candidates will hold a full-time, limited-term clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor or a continuing appointment as Associate or Full Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and must have certification in Anatomical or General Pathology. 

The Department and Hospital: With this significant recruitment of four additional, new pathologists, the Department is intent on revitalizing its role as a leader in diagnostic pathology in Canada while fulfilling the academic mandate of London Health Sciences Centre as an award-winning research-intensive acute care tertiary and quaternary teaching hospital. The Pathology Program is fully subspecialized with an annual workload of approximately 60,000 surgical specimens, 20,000 cytology specimens and 1,000 autopsies. The Department has a long history of collegiality and excellence in many areas of diagnostic service, teaching and research, and represents an environment conducive to career and personal development. The Department has begun the process of digital transformation of its Pathology services with the goal of routine use of digital pathology for primary diagnosis.

Compensation: Compensation for this position will be primarily composed of hospital funding aligned with the Ontario MOH Laboratory Medicine Funding Framework Agreement.
