Health Sciences North (HSN) is recruiting for two (2) permanent full-time Pathologist Assistants. We are seeking innovative individuals, to perform comprehensive gross examination of surgical specimens and forensic autopsies in accordance with established standards.

The ideal candidates should be a graduate from an accredited Pathologist Assistant Master’s Program (MSc) or equivalent combination of education. They should also be certified (or eligible for certification) with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP) as Pathologist Assistant.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of one (1) year of recent relevant experience, in the specialty of Histology/Pathology.

 

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Pathologist Assistant works in the Surgical Gross Room and Autopsy Suite, within the Pathology department. Surgical specimens processed include a variety of specimen types that range in size and complexity, from biopsies to cancer specimens. The Pathologist Assistant works independently within a dynamic team, who support teaching and collaboration. Assignments include the examination, dissection and sampling of surgical specimens as well as other supportive duties within the department. All primary functions performed fall under the direction of a Pathologist. In the Autopsy Suite, Pathologists’ Assistant prepare, perform and complete hospital and medico-legal autopsies under direction of a Forensic Pathologist and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, team environment and are looking for a rewarding career opportunity, you are encouraged to view the full job description on the HSN Careers Website.
