ACADEMIC BREAST PATHOLOGIST
The Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of academic Anatomical Pathologist with diagnostic expertise in breast pathology. The ability to participate in other diagnostic pathology subspecialties, especially gynecologic pathology would be an asset.
Qualifications. Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent). Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and must hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anatomical Pathology or equivalent. Appointment will be at an academic rank commensurate with experience.
The Department. We are a regional referral centre with over 30 000 surgical pathology cases a year. Our practice is fully subspecialized; pathologists generally participate in one or two subspecialty service areas. We are a very collegial department with a strong culture of scholarship.
Compensation and protected time. There is potential for flexibility in the balance of service and academic time commitments for this position. The minimum compensation is in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for pathologists in the Province of Ontario (currently approximately $383,000 (CAD) per year).

The successful candidate will provide evidence of an ability to work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment. Applicants should demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions in the department’s undergraduate, graduate, and residency training programs. We will further prioritize a track record of and potential for improving the practice of pathology through research, education, quality improvement, or clinical innovation.
The successful incumbent will be expected to provide 70% clinical services and 30% teaching / research (to be divided based on departmental need and personal interest at the time of hiring). The expectation of services is 45 hours/week for 45 weeks/year and participation in pathology on call services.
