DSM is recruiting for the permanent full-time position of Surgical Pathology Assistant to be based in DSM’s Pathology Laboratory at St. Boniface Hospital (SBH) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The position will be based at SBH; however, the successful applicant will be required to provide coverage at other DSM pathology sites.

Under the collaborative supervision of the Charge Technologist and Senior Pathology Assistant, the incumbent is responsible for the reception, gross description and dissection of surgical tissue specimens. The incumbent will select and prepare tissue specimens for processing in preparation for microscopic diagnosis. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties, as assigned.

Interested applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree, including courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology, from a recognized university, or be a Registered Laboratory Technologist, specializing in Histology. Graduates of a recognized Pathology Assistant Program will be given preference. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. A valid driver’s license may be a condition of employment for this position, at the sole discretion of the Employer.

Anticipated Shifts: Days/Evenings including Weekends; 38.75 hours weekly; 7.75-hour shifts Salary: $33.532 – $41.883 per hour, as per MAHCP contract
