The Program Chief and Medical Director of Laboratory Medicine & Genetics (LMG) reports to the Chief of Medical Staff as Program Chief and to the appropriate Vice President of Patient Services as Program Medical Director. The Program Chief and Medical Director, together with the Program Director, will be responsible for the LMG Program, a high-functioning, multi-site, regional program servicing the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network. Working in close partnership with the Program Director, the LMG portfolio includes a comprehensive suite of laboratory medicine services and a regional genetics program. Responsibilities of the Program Chief and Medical Director of LMG include monitoring and ensuring the delivery of excellent and safe care of patients. In this strategic and operational role, the Program Chief and Medical Director, in partnership with the Program Director, will ensure an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care by actively promoting and continuing to advance best practices and high quality services, both within and outside of the hospital, in order to deliver improved quality, access and sustainability. Key leadership priorities for the Program Chief and Medical Director will be to:
- Develop the strategy and key deliverables for this Program across all sites to deliver maximum levels of responsiveness and quality to patients.
- Advance regional partnerships with various industry partners and stakeholders, striving towards seamless integrated care, program excellence and system innovation.
- Strengthen collaboration and connectivity across teams, clinical programs and with partner hospitals.
- Advance and lead medical education, research and innovation across the Laboratory Medicine and Genetics Program.
- Lead continuous improvements in the Medical Quality of Care and Patient Experience.
You are a physician licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario or eligible for licensure, and hold advanced certification in General and/or Anatomical Pathology, or its equivalent, recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or other certification that is deemed to be equivalent. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
