Oncologic Anatomic Pathologist
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, an academic health sciences centre fully affiliated with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, invites applications for the position of an Academic Oncologic Pathologist, Clinician Teacher stream, at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
The candidate must have strong diagnostic skills in surgical pathology particularly in two or more of the following subspecialties: Head and Neck Pathology, Dermatopathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, and Women’s Health Pathology. An interest in Cytopathology would be an asset. The applicant must possess a medical degree and hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anatomical Pathology, or equivalent, and be eligible for an independent license by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Formal fellowship training in Surgical Pathology or Oncologic Pathology is a requirement, preferably with independent sign out experience. The proposed start date is July 1, 2019.
The Division of Anatomic Pathology in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Molecular Diagnostics at Sunnybrook is a collegial, inter-professional team comprised of 17 pathologists and 50 combined pathology assistants, technologists, research and administrative staff. Our Division is a fast-paced and efficient environment. Through our affiliation with the Odette Cancer Centre, we handle primary diagnosis and/or second reviews of complex malignant cases, with more than 30,000 surgical pathology and 20,000 cytopathology specimens per year. We pride ourselves on delivery of pathology results that are accurate, timely and integrated into Sunnybrook’s clinical programs “When it matters most”.
The successful applicant will thrive in an inter-professional oncology team, including participation in multi-disciplinary tumour boards and support of collaborative research. As a clinician-teacher, a commitment to teaching in undergraduate, post-graduate, patient, and continuing education is expected. A demonstrated interest in education scholarship will be favoured. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for pathologists in the Province of Ontario (currently $348,110 per annum).
