The Tanz Center for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases (Tanz CRND) at the University of Toronto and the Krembil Research Institute (KRI) at the University Health Network in Toronto Canada are seeking an early to mid-career neuropathologist clinician-scientist in the area of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly but not exclusively Parkinson’s disease and other degenerative parkinsonian disorders.

Duties: Clinical work, incl. teaching and service, largely dedicated to the neuropathology of neurodegenerative diseases
• Dedicated clinical and basic laboratory-based self-initiated and collaborative research
• Lead research program focused on one or more of the following themes:
o Discovery and validation of the molecular and cellular pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases;
o Development of innovative models including computational, cellular or animal models;
o The development and validation of biomarkers for detection of disease and measurement of disease progression;
o Development and preclinical validation of novel targets for potential disease modifying therapies;
• Conduct microscopic and chemical analyses of laboratory samples and specimens;
• Supervise laboratory activities;
• Act as consultants to other physicians.

• Graduation from an approved Medical school is required
• Four to Five years of specialty residency training in neuropathology and neurology is required;
• Neuropathology training is required with certification (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or it’s equivalent);
• Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and Licensing by the Province of Ontario;
• Postdoctoral experience
• Demonstrated research excellence
• Ability to qualify for an appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (status only) In the Department of LMP at the University of Toronto
• Proven track record in the field
