Full Time Permanent Pathologist
Health Sciences North/Horizon Sante-Nord (HSN) is recruiting a full time permanent Pathologist who has a keen interest in affecting change within its dynamic health care system. As the tertiary care referral centre for the entire Northeastern Ontario region, HSN serves a catchment population of over 600,000 residents and hosts the Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre.
We are seeking a general pathologist to join our well-established group, which provides pathology and laboratory support services to HSN and other hospitals throughout Northeastern Ontario. The HSN department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine currently includes 12 pathologists and provides a broad range of services for the following laboratory sections: surgical pathology and cytology, hematopathology including flow cytometry, transfusion medicine, forensics, genomics, histology and immunohistochemistry, microbiology, and chemistry. The team also includes a Biochemist, Medical Microbiologist and Laboratory Cytogeneticist. Candidates should have skills that complement those of the current group.
Specialty training or an interest in neuropathology, genomic pathology, or laboratory management, including clinical pathology training, would be an asset. In addition to routine service work, pathologists at HSN are also encouraged to participate in research at the affiliated HSN Research Institute (HSNRI) and are required to seek faculty appointments at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). Most clinical and academic work is completed at the HSN main site, 41 Ramsey Lake Road. Compensation is fee for service originating from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
Sudbury offers an exceptional quality of life, with excellent schools, abundant lakes, parklands and extensive recreational opportunities. The City is near Georgian Bay and Muskoka, and a 50 minute flight or 3-4 hour drive from the greater Toronto area.
Notre région offre ses services en anglais et en français et nous encourageons les candidats bilingues à faire demande.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Ontario and have obtained, or be eligible to obtain, specialty qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and/or the American Board of Pathology. Pathway 3 or 4 candidates from the US will be considered.
