CRANBROOK, BRITISH COLUMBIA (CANADA). The East Kootenay Regional Hospital, located at the foot of the Rockies in beautiful Cranbrook, BC, is seeking a General Pathologist (AP/CP) or Anatomical Pathologist with additional training in hematopathology to complete our 4.0 FTE pathology team. Our group performs approximately 10,000 inpatient and outpatient surgical cases and 10-15 hospital autopsies per year, as well as non-gynecological cytopathology, frozen sections, and bone marrow biopsies. There is also an opportunity to perform coroner’s autopsies if interested. We have active hematology, transfusion medicine, and medical biochemistry services (with lesser involvement in microbiology), and provide medical leadership for all of the Interior Health laboratories in the East Kootenay region. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in surgical pathology, laboratory diagnostics and be comfortable evaluating bone marrow biopsies and peripheral smears. Working well within an independent practice in a small group environment is also essential. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships with the hospital and laboratory staff are also imperative.
The East Kootenay Regional Hospital serves a catchment of approximately 80,000 people, and supports a Level 4 BCCA oncology clinic, on-site MRI, and specialist services in Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, and Radiology.
Cranbrook is an outdoor paradise with breathtaking scenery and wildlife, within 2 hours drive of 5 ski hills, a 30 minute drive to your choice of 6 golf courses, and home to world-renowned rivers and lakes for fishing, boating, kayaking or rafting. Hours: Full-time
Compensation: $363,030 for 210 service days (Service Contract, provincially negotiated grid level)
Rural Practice Subsidiary Agreement incentives
• Relocation assistance $15,000 maximum
• Recruitment incentive $20,000
• Retention fee premium 14% of service contract annually
• Retention flat fee $14,076 annually
Requirements: Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) or eligible for Fellowship
Eligible for full or provisional licensure with College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
