Academic Anatomical Pathologist/Renal Pathologist
Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program and McMaster University
Hamilton, Ontario

Applications are invited for an Anatomical Pathologist position in the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP), with an academic appointment at an appropriate rank in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, McMaster University.  Competency in renal pathology, including pathology of renal transplantation, proven by renal pathology practice, and recent fellowship training and/or membership in the Renal Pathology Society are requirements of the position.  Experience in general surgical pathology, autopsy and cytology is also required.

While applications are invited from all qualified applicants, we encourage applications from mid- to late-career pathologists.  A senior pathologist with proven administrative experience will also have the opportunity to be considered for upcoming leadership positions.

The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment and is expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and in the development of a research program.

The HRLMP covers all anatomical pathology services for two Hamilton Hospitals, St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Hamilton Health Sciences.  This position is based at the St. Joseph’s Healthcare site, which is a large tertiary care teaching facility and the site for the Regional Renal Transplant Program and Urology Institute.  It is also the site for regional programs in respiratory medicine, thoracic surgery, and head and neck surgery.

The City of Hamilton has a population of 500,000 and is home to six friendly and family-oriented communities, nestled against the picturesque Niagara escarpment on the western edge of Lake Ontario. A relaxed, culturally diverse atmosphere with excellent public schools makes Hamilton an attractive place for families. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the excellent local hiking, climbing and mountain biking. The pleasures of wine country can be enjoyed in nearby Niagara, and more cosmopolitan opportunities – be it theatre, fine dining or professional sports – abound in Toronto, both only 45 minutes away.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anatomical or General Pathology and be able to obtain medical licensure in the Province of Ontario.
