Mission Statement
The Section of Education will advocate for the recognition of medical education as a scholarly activity among laboratory physicians and work to improve laboratory medicine in Canada through the application of up-to-date educational principles and methods.
Goals and Objectives
- Improvement of laboratory medicine in Canada through the application of up-to-date educational principles and methods
- Development and promotion of educational programs for laboratory physicians and residents (postgraduate trainees)
- Collaboration with other relevant educational organizations (e.g. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada) to translate new educational concepts and practices to Laboratory Medicine
- Development and promotion of educational activities specific to the field of Laboratory Medicine and encouragement of participation of all teaching hospitals and universities in Canada in implementing such activities
- Advocacy for the recognition of medical education as a scholarly activity that requires specific training for developing proficiency and as a major component of the academic mandate of Laboratory Medicine in Canada
